Reports indicate that beloved actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
An Important Return to Panem
The actors are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their appearance will probably be featured in a future-set scene, as the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.
This marks the sixth cinematic outing in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
Delving Into the Prequel
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a 2025 novel by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who directed nearly all the previous films in the series.

The film's narrative are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.

- Ralph Fiennes is cast as a younger version of the calculating President Snow.
