The Opening Xbox Game Pass Additions of 2026 Show Xbox Is Still Fighting.
Across the gaming landscape, fans keep sounding the knell for the Xbox brand. Xbox was recently outsold by a platform few have heard of. Xbox fan sites are now publishing content regarding Sony's platform unprecedentedly. 2025 was complete chaos for the Xbox ecosystem. But if we're going solely off the upcoming Game Pass lineup in 2026, it's evident that Xbox continues to plan to attract subscribers with strong games on its flagship service.
The Current Inclusions
A pair of titles currently accessible as you read this, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, are not the headliners. The true anticipation is for the upcoming titles to Game Pass in the coming weeks that's truly noteworthy.
Major Titles on the Horizon
Come mid-January, the platform will add the underrated Star Wars Outlaws, a vast exploration title that deviates from conventional open-world tropes with a cosmic robbery tale. Another big get is Resident Evil Village featuring the towering Lady Dimitrescu, which our 2021 review called "an ideal blend of frights and fights."
Intriguing Niche Additions
Yet, the less-hyped additions set to join the catalog are quite compelling. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, the criminally overlooked roguelike that's a blast to play, drops on Jan. 7th — and it's worth experiencing regardless of whether you played the first Lost in Random game.
The game set in a ruined Britain from last year might get its hooks in you remarkably quickly.
Atomfall, a survival title with stealth elements by the makers of Sniper Elite, is also a game to check out. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to look forward to.
A Solid, Curated Lineup
Ultimately, these titles aren't industry-shaking releases to Game Pass, nor are they tentpole Microsoft studios games that justify the service in the first place. But Microsoft's additions here are very dependable. The lineup provides a solid mix of older titles you may have skipped and relatively recent releases that didn't get the attention they warranted upon launch — which makes them ideal prospects to experience a revival on Game Pass.
Hope you're ready to say goodbye to The Grinch Christmas Adventures, as it happens.
