Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his position following another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory of course but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I sense the trust. But I've not talked to them after this match so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a spell such as this with outcomes so bad.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
