Colts Take On Falcons in Berlin – NFL Week 10
Hello, football enthusiasts. Wie gehts? Everything good I trust on this excellent morning kickoff to the tenth week coming directly from Deutschland. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be exact where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the powerful Indianapolis Colts (7-2) take on the Falcons (3-5). The fifth game played on soil in Germany and the initial in the capital city.
Pregame Highlights
When it comes to glittering attire that is an absolute belter from the Olympic figure skater on the coin toss. A slight fluff from the broadcast team there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the presenter with an unfortunately hot mic.
So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have elected to receive. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Will the QB bounce back after a difficult performance in Pittsburgh?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the largest shoulder pads you are bound to notice. The fashion picks are impressive today. We are almost underway after a choir performance for the German anthem. Classy.
First Quarter Action
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
And we're off! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back catches a screen pass, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right side then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the ball retrieval. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The gamble fails to pay off as Josh Downs cannot reel in a quick pass from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a huge hit on the Colts' tight end. Atlanta's defense started strong as they try and snap their string of three losses. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Touchdown Recap
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was very open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That moment reflects the first round pick’s career to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only gets worse for the Atlanta as they cough the ball back to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard mark. The Falcons quarterback is sacked and fumbles the football.
A nifty 22-yard run from the Colts receiver sets Jonathan Taylor up to roll in for the score on the following play. The placekicker misses the point after attempt. Mistake.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by marching his Falcons down the field for a touchdown. Drake London makes some chunky receptions to put them in the scoring area then the defense opens up for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. The running back finishes it off for a one-yard touchdown of his own. Advantage Atlanta.
