British tennis star Emma Raducanu wraps up her season and plans to retain her coach through next year.
Emma Raducanu advanced to round three in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slams in the current campaign.
Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of the last two tournaments this season because of a health issue she has been battling in recent days.
Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to regain her health ahead of launching next year's training.
Those preparations will include trainer Francisco Roig, as both individuals have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.
The tennis professional required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
She again required a visit from the doctor at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.
Her movement was far from freely in the final set against Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.
Those results signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally for the first time since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.
Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in Beijing last month.
Raducanu won twenty-eight matches in the current season and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.
As Britain's top player made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament before losing in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.
She worked with Mark Petchey as coach from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.
The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.
She mentioned that a three-day test period with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.
Roig joined her in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
