Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
